What are the reasons that can cause leakage in the use of detachable plate heat exchangers

1. The leakage of detachable plate heat exchangers when used within the rated working pressure is mainly related to the abnormal impact loads of water hammer and air hammer in the system, in addition to the quality factors in equipment manufacturing and assembly. This is a phenomenon that is not easily observed during use. The pressure peak caused by impact is often 1-3 times higher than the normal working pressure, causing the rubber sealing gasket installed in the plate heat exchanger to shift, leading to sealing failure.

2. Due to the fact that the heat transfer components of this type of equipment are made of stainless steel sheets (with a thickness of 0.5-1.0m), their sealing rigidity is relatively poor and the sealing circumference is long, so their ability to withstand impact pressure is much lower than that of shell and tube heat exchangers. The abnormal impact of the plate heat exchanger can be judged based on the equipment that provides the conveying medium. During the maintenance of the alkali pump transporting alkali solution for the plate heat exchanger, it was found that there were a small number of honeycombs in the pump casing, indicating cavitation phenomenon during the pump operation; At the same time, due to the presence of leakage around the plates in the early stage, it can be inferred that changes in fluid pressure are also a possible factor in leakage.
