Advantages of Fully Welded Plate Heat Exchangers

High heat transfer efficiency
In the plate structure, a special corrugated structure shape and spacing are adopted, and the fluid flow pattern is complex, and strong turbulence can be generated at a lower flow rate, so that the heat transfer ability can be exerted to a certain extent and higher The heat transfer performance.

Wide range of application
Its special all-welding process does not require non-metallic materials for sealing, and its structural design is diversified, which can be applied at higher temperatures and pressures.

Low pressure loss
The special plate corrugated structure makes the fluid fill the flow channel formed between the plates, and all the plate surfaces participate in heat exchange. The medium can flow without dead zones in the flow channel, which can reduce the consumption of kinetic energy to a certain extent and save operating costs.

Plate-Frame Type

Compact structure, small footprint
The fully welded plate heat exchanger has a compact structure and a wide range of applicable space conditions. The heat exchange area per unit area is 2 to 5 times that of the shell-and-tube type, and there is no need to reserve maintenance space for extracting the tube bundle. When realizing the same heat exchange task, the area of the fully welded plate heat exchanger is about 1/6-1/10 of that of the shell-and-tube heat exchanger, which can greatly reduce the capital investment cost.

Not easy to scale
The heat exchange plates are welded around, and during operation, they are affected and restricted by thermal stress, so that the inside of the plates can expand and contract freely, so the surface of the plates is not easy to scale.

FAQ

Q: What are the primary components of a fully welded plate heat exchanger?

A: It comprises a stack of welded plates, a frame, inlet and outlet ports, and a channeling system directing fluids through the unit. The plates are usually made of corrosion-resistant metals like stainless steel.

Q: How is a fully welded plate heat exchanger maintained?

A: Maintenance involves regular inspections for wear and potential corrosion. As the plates are fully welded, internal cleaning requires more effort than in gasketed exchangers. Access ports may be provided for easier cleaning and inspection.

Q: How long do plate heat exchangers last?

A: Heat exchangers are usually designed for a lifetime of 20 or 25 years. In fact, they are often in service for much longer.

Q: What is a welded plate heat exchanger?

A: This means that the heat-transfer plates are welded together with no need for an external gasket. Gasketed plate heat exchangers are suitable for many applications, but are limited in terms of temperature and pressure, coupled with the fact that there is always a risk of gasket failures and/or permeation.

Q: What is the maximum temperature for plate heat exchanger?

A: It is a welded plate exchanger (so there are no gaskets between the plates) that can operate up to a pressure of 30 bars and at temperatures as high as 500°C.

Q: What is the pressure limit for a plate heat exchanger?

A: The standard pressure rating for SWEP brazed plate heat exchangers, i.e. maximum operating pressure, is 31 bar. SWEP's standard maximum operating temperature is 185°C for copper-brazed brazed plate heat exchangers, and 350°C for all-stainless brazed plate heat exchangers (nickel - based filler).

Q: Can a cracked heat exchanger be welded?

A: If the crack is too large–or if it is accompanied by excessive amounts of internal corrosion–the heat exchanger will likely need to be replaced. Yet small cracks can often be repaired by welding a metal patch over the damaged area.
